St. Camillus de Lellis (1550-1614) founded the Nursing Order of Ministers of the sick. Men of this order cared for the dying, people stricken with the plague, and alcoholics. St. Camillus opened a hospital for alcoholics in Germany. St. Camillus de Lellis was born at Bacchianico, Naples in 1550 and died at Rome July 14, 1614.
